Is there an anime without fighting?
Death Note. A consistent fan-favorite among all animes, Death Note stands out as a great non-fighting shonen that still packs just as much of a punch when it comes to intensity and action.
10/10 L knows Capoeira
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art using dance and music along with combat. The technique was developed by African slaves in Brazil during the 1500s to help them escape from their masters. In episode 18, Light and L engage in a fight while being handcuffed together.
Light gets up and suddenly gives L a huge punch, sending him to the other side of the room. He is outraged that L lacks motivation because his theory that Light was Kira is wrong and reminds him that there are others involved such as FBI agents, other policemen and newscasters who have also paid the price to Kira.
This is a great show to begin with if you are a fan of mysteries, dark supernatural undertones, and battles of the wits. Some scenes can be very dramatic in the typical anime style, but the melodrama fits the tone and themes of the story. In terms of your first foray into anime, Death Note is a tried-and-true classic.
L would win. He is a trained professional in many things as we see in the manga/anime, and we also see by the brief physical confrontations he has with Light, that L can fight in a particular fighting style, which reveals he is trained to fight to start with.

Parents need to know that this mature Adult Swim anime series isn't intended for kids. It revolves around a high school student who becomes a serial killer. Since his victims are all criminals, he justifies the murders as a way of creating a crime-free world. Most of the deaths aren't too graphic, but they're frequent.

In Chapter 58 or Episode 25, Light succeeds in killing L, and then there is a five-year time jump. This introduces two characters named Near and Mello, who eventually manage to kill Light. Many argued that L's demise should've been the story's end, and it's hard not to agree with this sentiment.

Does Light turn into a Shinigami?
Due to many similar characteristics, it has widely been believed that this Shinigami could, in fact, be the reincarnation of Light Yagami. Although this has been debunked, and goes against the series' continuity, Light's reincarnation theory has remained a popular Death Note Myth.
A top Death Note theory suggests that L sits in his famous hunched-over way to move at a moment's notice. By staying on his feet even while sitting, he can be ready to fight or flee immediately if necessary.
He hides his identity from the world because he fears being found by the enemy and possibly killed. By using the name L most commonly, he successfully hides who he really is. Some of the different names he uses include Ryuzaki, Ryuga, Coil, and more.

Death Note is a shorter anime, meanwhile My Hero Academia is still on going. I would say watch Death Note first, then watch My Hero Academia, and then just wait for the new season of My Hero to come out.
Death Note, given the strong questions it raises about the responsibility for life and death both, could make for a great discussion tool. The series is rated for older teens, and I agree that it's best suited for older high schoolers.
Mature really for older kids and up.
A interesting and dark anime with a good plot and story line. Has some sex and violence but is mostly very dark.
Here are some tips on age-appropriate anime: Anime seen on the Cartoon Network (or other channels that show children's cartoons) before 9pm is probably safe for most children younger than 13. If it is on after 9pm, then you know it isn't appropriate for children younger than 13.

What is the first anime ever made?
The first full-length anime film was Momotaro: Umi no Shinpei (Momotaro, Sacred Sailors), released in 1945. A propaganda film commissioned by the Japanese navy featuring anthropomorphic animals, its underlying message of hope for peace would move a young manga artist named Osamu Tezuka to tears.
DEATH NOTE is a subtitled Japanese fantasy thriller about a man who discovers that he can kill criminals by writing their names in a notebook. There is infrequent strong language ('f**k'). There are some violent scenes within a fantasy context. There is infrequent gore.
The story involves a notebook in which you can write a persons name and they die. Unlike the manga/anime, most deaths are very graphic and gory. However, the over-the-top/sudden impact of the gore makes it more humorous than frightening.

Not all anime are about battles, but a large chunk of the medium focuses on clashes of some variety, be it physical fights or some other match of some kind. Thus, similar to comics fans, fans of anime are often prone to coming up with "who-would-win" scenarios between their favorite characters.
Sazae-san - 7,701 episodes
Recognized by the Guinness World Records, this anime holds the world record for the longest-running animated TV series. The show is about a mother named Sazae-san and her family life.
Saitama from One Punch Man is the strongest character in anime. Even with new anime launching all the time, no one holds a candle to him yet. One Punch Man is different from most other combat anime, in that the protagonist is already the strongest person around, rather than striving to reach that goal.
Another notable monumental undertaking would be the current Guinness World Record holder for longest running animated show, Sazae-san, which is still on the air with over 7000 episodes--but don't worry, it's actually not even available in its entirety and was never licensed out for western audiences.
13/22 Chibi Maruko-Chan – 1203 Episodes
The original anime aired in 1990 with a respectable 142-episode run. The series was then revived in 1995 and became one of the longest anime over the years, going on for over 1200 episodes.
