Why is there so much time between F1 races?
This time limit exists for two reasons. One is to ensure driver safety, as drivers can get fatigued after driving for long periods. The second reason is that the racing cars may run out of fuel.

On the Friday before every Formula 1 Grand Prix (except Monaco), there are two 90-minute practice sessions. Monaco has them on Thursdays. Teams use them to work on setups and strategy choices for the coming weekend, while the drivers get an opportunity to learn or re-familiarise themselves with the circuit.
F1 teams are allowed to activate its 14-day shutdown period at any time within the summer break, with the majority of teams opting for a middle two weeks to provide time to unpack from the previous race and prepare for the next race after the shutdown.
Transponders on F1 cars allow them to be tracked to within a ten thousandth of a second by transmitting radio waves. Formula One transponders are vital to keeping the race as accurate as possible, with the cars moving at such high speed, no other timing system is up to the task of tracking them.

Formula One race cars have been recorded to reach 0-60 as fast as 1.6 seconds, however the typical range for modern day F1 cars is between 2.1 to 2.7 seconds.
The shortest circuit by lap distance to host a Formula One World Championship race is the Circuit de Monaco, in Monte Carlo, Monaco, which has held races from 1929-2011.

Which day is best to attend F1?
In the middle of everything on Saturday is a Formula One practice session as well as Formula One Qualifying---which is pretty exciting. You really need to be there on Sunday---you don't want to miss the actual F1 race.

The first is held on Friday morning and the second on Friday afternoon, while the third session is on Saturday morning. From 2021, all sessions last for one hour, prior to this the Friday sessions were 90 minutes in length and the Saturday session was one hour long.
This rule is implemented by Article 21.8 of the FIA F1 sporting regulations: "All competitors must observe a shutdown period of fourteen (14) consecutive days during the months of July and / or August." In this period teams cannot work on car design, development or parts production, including planning or hold meetings.
The Formula 1 annual summer break refers to the period running from the last race that takes place in July and the first race that is scheduled to happen in late August or early September.
Racing drivers operate in a very different place. Every time they press the brakes they want to slow down as rapidly as the car will permit them. This means that they push the brakes right up to the point where the tyres will lock up - every corner, every lap.
The 2022 Formula One cars were supposed to be three to five seconds slower than the 2021 cars, but it turns out that's not quite the case. The designers have already done a good job this year, as the top has stayed pretty close to last year's times.

Endurance training
Like all elite athletes, the intensity and volume of training is carefully manipulated daily to optimise recovery and maximise athletic potential. Drivers also use heart rate monitors to guide their endurance sessions, which is especially useful when replicating the conditions and duration of a race.
Furthermore, F1 vehicles do not have AC because teams work hard to eliminate as much weight off their cars as possible to remain competitive and get an advantage against their competitors. Moreover, dry ice in F1 racing has helped teams keep their vehicles and drivers cool during races.
What do F1 drivers do immediately after a race?
All of the drivers are weighed immediately after a race. There are usually no exceptions to this rule. The drivers are required to be weighed after every race. Usually, we only see the drivers on the podium being weighed, as the other drivers go off to be weighed in a different area.
Formula 1 cars are faster than NASCAR cars.

Do F1 drivers families travel with them?

Grand Prix weekends feature around 6 hours of F1® action on the track, beginning with two 90-minute practice sessions on Friday, normally in the mid-morning and early afternoon. A third practice session of 60 minutes takes place on Saturday morning to get the cars and drivers primed for qualifying in the afternoon.
What happens during an F1 race weekend? A race weekend takes place from Friday to Sunday. Oh yeah, and it's excruciatingly hot. Cockpit temperature averages 122 degrees Fahrenheit. During races that last two and a half hours, drivers can drop more than six pounds just through sweating.
Almost all Formula One drivers, can and do, drink when competing in a Grand Prix. They must drink to replenish the lost fluids in their bodies.
What do F1 teams do with old cars?
They are stored in a museum or are displayed elsewhere. With millions of fans tuning into the races, there is no doubting F1's popularity, it is not uncommon to find certain cars displayed as showpieces in museums, shopping centers, or even hotels.
The FIA will test at random from a pre determined pool of drivers. The national sanctioning body will test a number of athletes during their events. In case of a positive doping test, the driver in question will be disqualified, have his/hers results forfeited and has to return all their winnings.
The disks reach peak temperatures during braking of 700°C~900°C, with temperatures of 1000°C not unknown. They do, however, cool very quickly and the average temperature of the brakes on an F1 car is around 500°C. At temperatures above 700°C the brakes experience thermal oxidisation which accelerates wear.

To answer if F1 cars have a clutch, yes, they do, though it is not a traditional pedal like you would see in your road car. The F1 clutch is on the steering wheel and works whenever an F1 driver flicks their shift paddles to change the gear. When that happens, a computer operates the clutch to adjust gears.
Formula One cars use highly automated semi-automatic sequential gearboxes with paddle-shifters, with regulations stating that 8 forward gears (increased from 7 from the 2014 season onwards) and 1 reverse gear must be used, with rear-wheel-drive.

The curfew in F1 is a mandatory period in which the teams are not allowed to have any mechanics or engineers working on the car. It is to ensure everyone is well rested and gets a decent night's sleep.
This was done in order to allow broadcasters to begin their coverage on the hour with 10 minutes of introduction before the formation lap began. Formula 1 expected benefits from the change when it was introduced.
Why are lap times deleted in F1?
The FIA deleted a staggering 43 lap times during the Austrian Grand Prix as all but four drivers were found guilty of exceeding track limits. 16 of the drivers competing at the Red Bull Ring were in violation of FIA Sporting Regulation Article 33.3 which states the driver must stay in the track at all times.
Formula 1 - 110 kilograms per race
F1 cars can use a maximum of 110 kilograms of fuel per race (305km / 190 miles), however they don't always fill the car with that much fuel.
The rules and regulations in Formula 1 racing do not allow the cars to refuel between the race. FIA decided to ban the refuelling process from enhancing the crew's safety and reducing costs. Even though the teams require clever strategies and tactics to manage without refuelling, it is a critical safety step.
F1 drivers typically make one pit stop per race, occasionally two, so that 0.3 second loss will happen once per a 90-minute race. Compare that, for example, to the potential impact of tougher tests on rear wings aimed at preventing them flexing, introduced at the last race.

The number 17 was used by Jules Bianchi in 2014 before his crash at the Japanese Grand Prix. Following his death, the number was retired as a mark of respect.
The number 13 was not used, as per racing tradition. In fact, only one race pre-2014 featured a number 13 car starting in Formula One history: the 1963 Mexican Grand Prix.
In most countries around the world, 16-year-olds have to wait for another two years to be able to drive a car. Not so for 16-year-old Max Verstappen. He has just been signed up to drive for a Formula 1 racing team. He will become the youngest ever F1 driver when he races for the Toro Rosso team next year.
